THE BEGINNING

In 1961 Bill Clarkin Sr., working out of a barn in his backyard, sold the first installed aluminum siding job to a central Ohio builder. At that time, an installed siding package did not exist in the Columbus Ohio market. This was the seed that sprouted to be APCO Industries which incorporated in 1962 as The Aluminum Products Company.

THE EARLY DAYS

In 1965, The APCO Home Improvement Company was established. Shortly after, Bill Clarkin Sr., purchased a seamless gutter machine, founding The APCO Gutter Company in 1968.

EXPANSION AND DIVERSIFICATION

In 1972, APCO purchased a local awning company and began fabricating custom awnings. APCO was gaining a considerable amount of buying power which led other siding dealers to request materials direct from APCO. In 1974, The APCO Wholesale Company began serving dealers and do-it-yourselfers. The Window and Door Division opened its doors in 1976, making APCO a major supplier of exterior building products.
