How can I know it’s time to replace my entry door?

A 20- to-30-year-old entry door will usually show signs of age and declining functionality, such as:

  • Dents
  • Rot or rust
  • Difficulty opening and closing
  • Drafts
  • Sunlight visible around frame
  • Increased energy costs
  • Problems with the handle or lock

Won’t a dog door make my home less energy-efficient and more vulnerable to theft?

Many homeowners are hesitant to install a pet door out of fear it will reduce security and let the cold, damp, or heat inside. Fortunately, neither is true.

Modern pet doors eliminate or minimize energy loss with heavy-duty magnetic flaps and weatherstripping. You can also lock pet doors for additional security and to keep your pet inside at night and when you’re away.

Why would I need a storm door if I already have a sturdy front door?

Storm doors provide additional protection for your home. Storm door benefits of include:

  • Protecting your entry door from weather damage
  • Blocking wind and water from entering your house
  • Improved insulation
  • Increased energy efficiency
  • An additional security barrier

How can I be sure my new door will last?

All the doors we install at APCO are built to last. However, taking good care of your new door by following basic maintenance steps will keep it looking beautiful and functioning like new for years to come.

You should routinely clean fiberglass, vinyl, and steel doors with a damp sponge or rag and gentle soap.

What are the different types of patio doors?

A new patio door will make it easier to access and enjoy your outdoor living space and add resale value in case you decide to sell your home down the line. There are three types of patio doors:

  • Hinged patio doors are similar to standard entry doors but with the option for a separate fixed glass door so you can let the light in and keep the bugs out.
  • Sliding patio doors offer easy operation and expansive views of your property. They also often have screen doors as well to let in fresh air.
  • French patio doors are timeless and elegant. These doors come in pairs and feature glass panes to let in light.

What is the best door material?

All of the door materials we use at APCO are high-quality. The best option is the material that fits your preferences and needs:

  • Vinyl doors are attractive and durable. They’re a great option if you’re working with a smaller budget.
  • Fiberglass doors are incredibly versatile and low maintenance. They require a bit more upfront investment, but they’re well worth it.
  • Steel doors offer heavy-duty security and longevity. Consider this option for optimal safety and aesthetics.

Do you offer warranties?

Yes! In addition to manufacturers’ product warranties, we offer several Best-in-the-Business warranties.

With new entry door installations, we provide a two- to 20-year warranty on materials and a 10-year transferable warranty on labor.

We also provide a limited installation warranty that states if the door fails to perform as expected due to installation, we’ll remedy the situation with no materials, parts, labor, or trip fees.

Are new doors a smart home improvement investment?

A quality new door offers up to a 90% return on investment, affordably increasing your resale value and many other advantages.

Your door is one of the first impressions potential buyers have of your home, so it will be difficult to sell if your doors are warped, rotting, dented, peeling, or scratched.
